Nearly three thousand women workers representing practically every organised branch of women's labour during the First World War and wearing the uniforms of their corps and trades, assembled in the quadrangle at Buckingham Palace after taking part in a Procession of Homage in honour of the silver wedding anniversary of King George V and Queen Mary in July 1918
