Bernard de Foix de La Valette d'Epernon

Bernard de Foix de La Valette (1592-1661) - Duke of Epernon, a French Colonel-General and Chevalier du Saint-Esprit. In 1639, the French Court pronouced a sentence of death against him, for being responsible of a military failure wich resulted in heavy losses, so he was exiled to England. He returned to France in 1643 as the Parliament of Paris cancelled the judgement. His first wife was Gabrielle de Verneuil, legitimised daugther of Henri IV
