Royalist stronghold Lathom House in Lancashire defies Parlimentarian pressure and raises the royal standard. The ensuing siege lasted three months, but was eventually lifted. Is that Charlotte Stanley, Countess of Derby, lashing the royal standard to the battlements of the Eagle Tower?
