King and Queen outside Buckingham Palace, WWI
On the afternoon of 3rd August 1914, the King and Queen drove from Buckingham Palace along the Mall, and were greeted by their subjects with cheers, especially when they passed the German Embassy. The next day Britain declared war on Germany
