Toshusai Sharaku, two Kabuki actors

Toshusai Sharaku, two Kabuki actors. Sharaku was a Japanese ukiyo-e print designer, known for his portraits of kabuki actors. Neither his true name nor the dates of his birth or death are known. This print was made in spring 1794 at a presentation of a play entitled The Countryman from Nihonmatsu. The actors are Otani Oniji III as Ukio Tohai (standing) and Ichikawa Omezo as the Samurai Tomita Hyotaro (kneeling)
