A portrait of the Leiningen Family
Maria Kirillovna, Princess Karl of Leiningen (1907-1951) with her children, Emich, Karl, Kira and Margarita in 1935. Maria was the daughter of Priness Victoria Melita of Edinburgh and Saxe-Coburg and Grand Duke Kirill of Russia. In November 1925, she married Prince Karl of Leiningen, a descendant of Queen Victoria's half-brother. He was to die in a Russian prisoner-of-war camp in 1946 - a fate shared by a number of German princes
