Admiralty Arch decorated for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, viewed from the south-west - The coronation of Elizabeth II took place on 2nd June 1953. Admiralty Arch was decorated with designs including the royal cypher between two stylised anchors; the arch was floodlit at night. The Mall was decorated with Coronation Arches designed by Eric Bedford, and lines of standards with golden crowns and scarlet banners
