The Cedars, Ranelagh Road, Putney, Wandsworth, London
The Cedars, Ranelagh Road, Putney, Wandsworth, Greater London Authority - The western terrace of The Cedars, seen from the south west. The Cedars was built in 1853, between what is now Deodar Road (formerly Ranelagh Road) and the River Thames. The development comprised two grand terraces. Plans for further development were never realised. The building of the District Railway led to the demolition of three of the houses in the west terrace and made The Ceders less desirable to the middle class Victorians the houses were intended for. The houses gradually fell into a poor state of repair and by 1890 both terraces had been demolished. _x000D_
