A detailed view of a celtic-style memorial cross

A detailed view of a celtic-style memorial cross commemmorating James and Charles Earls of Derwentwater The cross is 19th century and was erected by Cadwallader Bates, who restored Langley Castle in the 1890's. It consists of a celtic-style round cross on a shaft with the arms of Derwentwater. There is an inscription on the square base, which reads: IN MEMORY OF JAMES AND CHARLES VISCOUNTS LANGLEY EARLS OF DERWENTWATER BEHEADED ON TOWER HILL 24 FEB 1716 AND 8 DEC 1746 FOR LOYALTY TO THEIR LAWFUL SOVEREIGN
