The dragline excavator known as Sundew bearing

The dragline excavator known as Sundew bearing the message EXCUSE ME! I'm walking to Corby'. At the time of construction Sundew was the largest walking dragline in the world. The excavator worked in a Rutland Iron Quarry from 1957 until the quarry closed in 1974. That summer the huge machine was walked a distance of circa 13 miles from Exton Park, Rutland to a site near Corby where it continued working until 1980 before finally being scapped in 1987
