An interior view of St Lawrence's Church, showing the nave and north aisle, with the chancel in the background, focussing on the ornate arcade piers. The church dates to the 11th or 12th century, with the north aisle and chancel added c1180-1195. Further alterations were made, including the 12th to 13th century tower, c1225-50 south aisle and nave extension, 14th century porch and 15th century belfry stage of the tower. The church has a six bay nave with west tower and south porch, and a three bay chancel with two aisle north vestry and one bay south aisle. The nave interior has paintings on the wall, above the arcade, which has zig-zag outer arches with square inner arches on octagonal capitals. The capitals alternate between scallops and leafs, with the scallop mouldings supported by round piers with deep twisting moulds, and the leafs suported by octagonal piers with deep vertical cuts. At the east end of the nave is a wooden chancel screen set in front of a pointed chancel arch, and the three bay chancel in the background, with triple lancet east window
