Seated men making rope handles in the Splicing Tent at T T Nethercoat and Co, East Works, Burnham on Crouch, Essex. Nethercoat and Co were chandlers and sailmakers who during the First World War also made ammunition carriers and tents at their East Works and West Works. The splicing tent may have been a temporary extension to the works
