Construction of the church began in February 1980, using a laminated timber frame with brick cladding and precast concrete planks forming the floors. The building contained a hall, school room, dining area, kitchen, crèche, and a flat for the minister. This photograph was published in the March 1981 edition of Team Spirit, the Laing newsletter
