RAF's No. 2 School of Photography
RAF aviators Cliff Boot and Albert Caraco at work in the RAF Film Production Unit cutting room at RAF Iver Heath, Pinewood Studios. Pinewood Studios - or RAF Iver Heath - was used as the base during the Second World War for the Royal Air Force Film Production Unit, the Crown Film Unit, and the Army Film and Photographic Unit. The studios were used to produce both films advocating the role of the armed forces in the war, and documentary films, recording the progress of the war. Dorothy Knicky Chapman was posted to Pinewood Studios to serve as a WAAF with the RAF's Film Production Unit, working in the Stills Department. This photograph is one of a set compiled by Chapman, which document her time at Pinewood Studios. It is not clear which of the photographs in the set were taken by Chapman.Albert Caraco 23 September 1918 - 11 September 1997 was born in Constantinople and began his career in France as a newspaper journalist, before becoming a film editor and then a film producer in the 1930s. During the Second World War he served with the RAF's Film Production Unit at Pinewood Studios. Following the war he founded Byron Picture Export and worked in film exporting, following this up with a role as general manager of production for Gamma Film France
