Uphill Windmill, Somerset
UPHILL WINDMILL, Uphill, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. From a fire insurance policy of 1789 we know that this tower was built as a windmill in 1729. By 1829 only the walls remained and in 1863 it was used as a beacon. It later became an observation point and then an observatory. Photographed by Herbert Edward Sidney Simmons in April 1935
