Thomas Tilling's horse bus (Putney Route)_x000D_. Thomas Tilling purchased his first horse bus in 1850 which he ran between Peckham and Oxford Street in London. Unlike many other operators, Tilling's buses stopped at predetermined points en-route and ran to a fixed timetable. Passengers liked this reliability and the company became hugely successful. By the inter-war period the Tilling Group had become one of the major bus operators in the United Kingdom
