WINDMILL HILL, West Ilsley, Berkshire. Ladies and children walking in the beautiful landscape of the West Ilsley Downs. A meandering path leads the eye on towards the windmill on Windmill Hill. It seems that the windmill fell into disrepair soon after, by 1907. The unfenced Downs were huge sheep pastures. Photographed in the 1890s by Henry Taunt
