West Pier, Brighton
WEST PIER, Brighton. First built in 1866 as Brighton's second pier, to bring holidaymakers to Brighton by steamer. The pier head was extended and a pavilion added in 1893 and a concert hall was added in 1916. The superstructure was severely damaged by fire in 2003. Photographed on 17 April 1949.
