1774 view of Boston with British four frigates in the Harbor. The Boston Port Act, passed by the Parliament of Great Britain on March 31, 1774, took effect on June 1, 1774. In addition to closing the port, it required the citys residents pay nearly $1 million (21st c. money) for the tea dumped into the bay during the Boston Tea Party
