THE ADORATION OF THE MAGI, by Giotto, 1320, Italian Proto-Renaissance painting, tempera on wood. After the birth of Jesus, the Bible described in Matthew 2:11, three Kings made a pilgrimage to Jesus by following a star, bringing him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and worshiping him. Giottos added the action of one Magi holding Jesus, a human moment in keeping with his with a greater realism (BSLOC_2017_16_46)
