American Revolution, First Continential Congress, Philadelphia, Sept. 5, to Oct. 26, 1774. John Dickinson, was a delegate to the 1st Continential Congress. He was the author of Letters from a Farmer to the Inhabitants of the British Colonies, published individually in 1767 and 1768. They argued against the Townsend Acts and were soon published in pamphlet form, and reprinted in colonial newspapers
