American Revolution. George Rogers Clark led militia soldiers in the northwestern frontier during the American War of Independence. His most noted victory was the capture of British-held Fort Sackville at Vincennes, in February 1779. In 1782 he led retaliatory raids against British allied Shawnee towns along the Great Miami River in the Ohio country
