American Revolution, Retreat of the British from Concord, April 19, 1775. American militia fired on the British column retreating to Boston after the Battles of Lexington and Concord. British soldiers burned some buildings after searching them for snipers. On the retreat, colonists lost 25 men killed and 9 wounded, while the British lost 40 killed with 80 wounded
