American Revolution. The signing of the Treaty
American Revolution. The signing of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce and Alliance between France and the United States. It provided for mutual military support in case fighting should break out between France and Britain. The treaty was signed for France by Alexandre gerard de Rayneval and for the US by Benjamin Franklin, Silas Dean, and Arthur Lee. It was effectivly annulled 1793 when George Washington announced his Neutrality Proclamation after Revolutionary France declared war on Great Britain in Feb. 1793
