Anastasio Somoza Jr. as a West Point Cadet in summer training, July 1946. He was the illegitimate son of President Anastasio Somoza. On return to Nicaragua he became Commander of the National Guard. He was elected President on May 1, 1967 and remained in power until defeated by Sandinista Rebels in 1979. (CSU_2015_11_1426)
