An Apache camp in Texas, ca. 1885, shows young women, one with a baby, and an old man, sitting outside their shelter. Scattered about are baskets, pottery jugs, and storage bags, partially covered by lengths of fabric. Their wickiup is a dome-shaped structure built over tree poles driven into the ground in a circle. The poles are bent together over the circles center and secured with strands of yucca. The frame is then covered with brush, usually bear grass, which is also tied down with strands of yucca
