Assiniboine and Cree Indians attack a Blackfoot encampment at Fort McKenzie on August 28, 1833. The fort was a trading post established by the American Fur Company on the Missouri River in 1833. The stockade had two blockhouses at opposing corners, each armed with several cannons. It assumed the name of Fort Brule (burned fort) before it was abandoned in 1844.
