Averroes (1126-98), Moorish Islamic philosopher and physician. His Arabic name was Abu al-Walid Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Ibn Rushd, often shortened to Ibn Rushd. He lived in Spain and Morocco and wrote GENERAL MEDICINE (Kulliyat fi al tib) in the 1160's
