The Battle of Manila Bay, was the first fighting of the Spanish American war. May 1, 1898. Passing back and forth in front of the Spanish fleet, the Americans bombarded the Spanish, sinking all of the fleet and disabling their shore batteries. This was the first major battle of the Spanish-American War (BSLOC_2017_10_62)
