Battle of Weihaiwei, and defeat of the Chinese Northern Fleet. Japanese torpedo boats attacked at Weihaiwei on the night of Feb. 4, 1894. While under Chinese fire, Japanese sailors torpedoed the great Chinese battleship TINGYUEN, which ran aground badly damaged. On the night of Feb. 6th, Japanese torpedoes hit the WIEYUEN, JOTAKA, and LAIYUEN (BSLOC_2017_18_84)
