Bed of Lake Conemaugh, whose waters were released in the torrent of the Johnstown flood in 1889. Photograph was taken from the top of the broken South Fork Dam shortly after May 31, 1889 dam collapse. The obsolete earthen dam was built in the 1840s as part of a cross-Pennsylvania canal system (BSLOC_2017_17_70)
