Belle Boyd (1844-1900), Confederate Spy during the U.S. Civil War. When Union forces invaded her home town, Martinsburg, Virginia, she shot and killed a soldier who forced his way into her home. She was tried and acquitted of justifiable homicide. Ca. 186
