Body of Spotted Elk (aka Big Foot), Chief of the Miniconjou, after the Wounded Knee Massacre. The Lakota Sioux elder, killed on Dec, 29, 1890, is frozen in a half sitting postion after the Massacre. The snow covered scene is littered with the remains of 100 tepees, wagons, pots, clothing, and bodies blasted by US Army artillery (BSLOC_2017_18_21)
