Buttonwood Agreement founded the New York Stock Exchange on May 17, 1972. Signers depicted in this painting L-R: Augustine Lawrence, Warden of the Port of New York; Charles McEvers, a merchant; Andrew Barclay, a merchant; Leonard Bleeker, broker; and David Reedy (in cocked hat), insurance and stock broker.
