Canadian and British observers illumined by both
Canadian and British observers illumined by both the sun and an atomic blast of ABLE, a 1-kiloton atomic bomb. January 27, 1951. B-50 Superfortress dropped the first A-bomb of the Operation Ranger series, at the Nevada Proving Ground, in an unpopulated desert 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas. Most observers have goggles, but others without eye protection, stand with their backs to the blast. (BSLOC_2015_2_12)
