Captured German cruiser Frankfurt was a bomb target in tests by U.S. Army and Navy, July 18, 1921. Air Service Martin MB-2 bombers hit Frankfurt with several of the 600 pound bombs and sank the ship. The tests of demonstrated the vulnerability of ships to air strikes (BSLOC_2016_10_106)
