US Civil War, Petersburg Campaign, June 9, 1864 to March 25, 1865. The Dictator siege mortar was mounted on a special railroad car, to run on side tracks of US Military Railroad between City Point and Petersburg. Curves in the tracks allowed the Dictators gunners to stay mobile and adjust its aim. Photo by Andrew Russell
