US Civil War, Union Canonicus class on the James River, Virginia, 1864. She is equipped with a minesweeping rake, to locate torpedoes, as mines were called at the time. USS Mahopac served with the James River Flotilla and later, in the Battles of Fort Fisher, Dec. 1864 and Jan. 1965
