Claude MacDonald, led defence of Beijing during siege
Claude MacDonald, led the defence of the Beijing foreign legations during the Boxer Rebellion. From their offices and residences, the European and Japan diplomatic community withheld attack and siege from June 20 to August 15, 1900. The 1963 movie, 55 DAYS AT PEKING, was based on the war. The character of Sir Arthur Robinson is based on MacDonald (BSLOC_2017_20_12)
