Columbus Delano, was a member of the Delano family, and distant relation of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. As Interior Secretary in the Ulysses Grant administration, 1870-76. When charged with accepting kickbacks and bribes for awarding land survey contracts, President Grant, balked at firing him.
