Confederate General, John Hunt Morgan, with his new 2nd wife Martha Ready, the daughter of Tennessee United States Representative Charles Ready. They were married for only 20 month when he was killed in Greeneville, Tennessee, by a Union soldier. As a young widow of a Lost Cause hero, Martha was active in Ladies Aid Society, which would evolve into the United Daughters of the Confederacy after the US Civil War. She remarried in 1873
