Confederate General, Leonidas Polk, c. 1860, in his vestments as the Episcopalian Bishop of Louisiana. As a political general, he was poor field commander. He was in command at several important US Civil War battles: Shiloh, Perryville, Stones River (Murfreesboro), and Chickamauga. He was killed in action in the Atlanta Campaign in 1864.
