Confederate Prisoners, captured at the Battle of Fairfax Court-House, June 27, 1863. There are uniformed Union guards on both sides of the formation. The Rebel POWs clothing is irregular and varied. The US Civil War battle was actually a skirmish, between maneuvering Union and Confederate armies preceding the Battle of Gettysburg
