Those seated are: Yellow Bear, Red Cloud, Big Road, Little Wound, Black Crow. After the Sioux War of 1876-77 and extension of the reservation system, the federal government made treaties with several Sioux tribes. High-status tribal members traveled to Washington to sign the treaties in ceremonial costume
