Daniel Webster, 1841-45, served as Secretary of State in the administration of John Tyler, after the death of William Henry Harrison. Tyler did not share his successors Whig politics, causing his entire Whig cabinet, except for Webster, to resign and attempt to oust Tyler from the Whig Party
