Debris at Pennsylvania Railroad stone bridge, after the Johnstown Flood of May 31, 1889. This was the most horrific site of the disaster. The bridge blocked the onslaught of tons of debris, carried by the flood waters. A fire broke out in the 30 acres of debris, burning for three days, killing scores of people still trapped in the houses (BSLOC_2017_17_80)
