Dr. Albert Blumberg, an accused and admitted Communist, in handcuffs, Oct. 20, 1954. In 1956 he was convicted under a provision of the 1940 Smith Act, equating party membership with conspiring to overthrow the Government. He was spared prison when the Supreme Court declared the provision unconstitutional. In 1965 he resumed his academic career at Rutgers University. (CSU_2015_7_339)
