Edward Mclean, son of wealthy Washington Post owner, John R. Mclean, ca. 1920. After coming into his inheritance in 1916, he successfully challenged his father's will and took control of the Post'. His competing interests, race horses, womanizing, drinking and general profligacy, resulted in the Post's early 1930's bankruptcy and Edward's commitment to a mental hospital until his death in 1941.
