The explosion of Lester P. Barlow's GLMITE bomb at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The 1, 000 pound liquid oxygen bomb created an powerful roar, but little damage. 84 test goats near the explosion, which Barlow expected to be blown to bits, were unharmed. May 25, 1940. (CSU_2015_8_481)
