Factory complex of the Westinghouse Air Brake
Factory complex of the Westinghouse Air Brake Co. Wilmerding, PA, c. 1905. The community developed around the factory established the late 1880s. Westinghouse sold land to the East Pittsburgh Improvement Company, to develop the site with housing. Behind the factory complex are row houses along the railroad tracks. Many of the larger houses on lots in the foreground still exist. The towered building at right was the headquarters and is on the National Register of Historic Places
